Tottenham latest: Another legend tips Hoddle, defender linked with move

Some of the key stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday.

With Tottenham’s search for a new manager in its infancy just a day after the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas, a lot of former players and managers are having their say on who should be the next person to take charge at White Hart Lane.

Ossie Ardiles has told TalkSport that he believes Glenn Hoddle is right man to succeed Villas-Boas.

Ardiles said: ‘I think he is a wonderful manager and he is a lot more mature, so I think he will be a wonderful choice.

‘He knows everything about the Premier League and Spurs especially.

‘I believe whoever is manager will have a wonderful, wonderful squad.’

Glenn Hoddle has thrown his hat into the ring for the job according to many reports, with a website co-founded by Hoddle saying he will help the club if they make an approach.

Tim Sherwood is the man who is in charge of the side for this week’s Capital One Cup tie against West Ham, and Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has said he is surprised AVB was shown the door by Spurs.

He said: ‘They had a very, very poor result against Liverpool and that ultimately resulted in them removing Andre Villas-Boas, which was a surprise to me.

‘But whatever the situation is at Spurs, from our point of view they have got an excellent squad.’

Elsewhere, right-back Kyle Walker has been linked with a move to Monaco according to some reports in today’s press, though those reports are saying it is unlikely the club will entertain an offer from Monaco.
