Manchester United have faced Olympiacos four times, twice in 2001-02 season and a further two times in 2002-03 season, and have won on every single occasion returning 12 goals and only conceding twice.
While the club's Premier League rivals such as Arsenal and Manchester City have tough tasks in their progression hopes having been paired with Bayern Munich and Barcelona respectively, United's supporters seem to have taken as much joy from their Olympiacos exam as they have from the upward struggle facing the aforementioned English club duo.
One supporter even termed the draw 'lucky', claiming it is the best case scenario as they avoided trips to cold climes in front of hostile fans such as Zenit St Petersburg or Galatasaray.
It was not lost on some fans, though, that their 100% record against the Greece representatives was one built up by erstwhile manager Sir Alex Ferguson: 'Don't screw this up David Moyes!' was one Twitterer's message to Ferguson's successor, who has lost 20% of his matches in his new role thus far.
Overall, it should be a straight-forward set of games for the three-times winners of the competition, yet they have been warned against a side unbeaten in their domestic league with three goals per game returned on average…
Manchester United have a 100% record against Olympiacos who we face in the last 16 of the Champions League. #MUFC— vincent maina (@vincmaina) December 16, 2013
