Tottenham fans react on Twitter to AVB sacking

Andre Villas-Boas has been sacked as Tottenham manager following the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool yesterday.

Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans would have seen the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas today coming from a mile off.

Tottenham were completely outplayed against Liverpool yesterday, void of ideas and the chairman has responded, showing AVB the exit door to try and give Tottenham a chance of making fourth by the end of the season.

It’s not the first time Spurs have found themselves outplayed and humiliated this season with the result yesterday coming after a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City and the 3-0 home loss to West Ham before that.

The job for the club now is to appoint the right man who can get more out of the players, get Spurs playing attractive football and salvage something from a season which isn’t looking so good at the moment.

Tottenham have a squad filled with quality players, who seemed a little unsure over their roles and the system they were meant to be playing in while AVB was in charge of the team.

There’s not a lot wrong with the personnel so it’s going to come down to the small things and the small tweaks that a new manager will bring.

There is never an ideal time for a club to lose their boss after a season has started, but whoever is now appointed gets the chance to assess the side ahead of the January window.

The issue is whether the new boss will be backed if he thinks further players are needed, especially as Spurs spent over £100 million on new players last summer, with several of those players yet to be given a real chance in the first team.

It’s a bit of a mess but the decision has been made, a new man will come in and Tottenham have the second half of the season to try and get into the top four.

Here’s what Spurs fans have made of the sacking via Twitter.
