A Luis Suarez brace and goals from Liverpool trio Jordan Henderson, Jon Flanagan and Raheem Sterling inflicted a heavy 5-0 defeat onto Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday, December 15 but, one of the talking points post-match has not been on when Spurs will bounce-back, but a photograph posted on the social network of one of the fringe Lilywhite players.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto, on loan at Queens Park Rangers, and outcast forward Emmanuel Adebayor were in particularly good spirits despite the defeat, with the former terming the losing performance: 'What a game' while also including a 'LOL', as if they see the funny side to the devastating defeat and slipping further away from top four contention.
Fan reaction has been mixed but the majority are outraged at the seemingly unfazed duo. Some supporters would be happy to never see them play for the club again, calling them traitors and a disgrace, while a minority believe too much has been made of the situation and that it is simply their common pose.
If adebayor and Ekotto are allowed back at the lane again it is a disgrace. Both contracts should be torn up I at all possible. #COYS— Rob B (@robbienlondon) December 15, 2013
