Barton weighs into Villas-Boas debate and says former England boss will take over at the Lane.
Spurs took the decision to remove their Portuguese coach on Monday morning, less than 24 hours after his side were hammered 5-0 by Liverpool at White Hart Lane.
Fans, pundits, players and managers appeared divided in their opinion, with plenty of the opinion that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has pushed the panic button far too early.
Others, though, insist that having rebuilt his squad during the summer, at no little expense, Villas-Boas was always going to be reliant on results to keep him in his job.
And QPR midfielder Barton delivered his verdict in his own uniquely succinct manner.
AVB had to go really. 6-0/5-0 against rivals after spending £100m+ in the last window. Reckon they'll go for Capello now.— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) December 16, 2013
A pretty ruthless assessment from Barton, and, interestingly, the polar opposite of what his own manager Harry Redknapp said just hours before AVB was given the boot.
“I think people are over-reacting too quickly,” said Redknapp. “You lose a couple of games now and you’re in trouble, it shouldn’t be like that.
“You either think somebody is good at their job or not and when you appoint someone you should give them time and let them do the job.”
