Shaun Goater has stated that he feels the English goalkeeper does not deserve a place back in Manuel Pellegrini’s side just yet.
Manchester City continued their fine form of late with another big win on Saturday, this time a 6-3 victory over Arsenal.
Despite the attacking intent on show from Manuel Pellegrini’s men, the hosts will be disappointed to concede three goals in the process.
As such questions continue over who should be the Etihad Stadium club’s first-choice stopper, with Costel Pantilimon currently getting the nod over out-of-form Joe Hart.
With important matches coming up over the next month, there is a case to suggest that Hart could well be reinstalled, but Shaun Goater has stated that it would not be fair if the Englishman was brought back in for the next game.
“From a selfish point of view I hope Joe Hart doesn’t come back in,” the ex-City poacher told talkSPORT.
“If Costel Pantilimon is dropped it’s because he’s let goals in, which means that we’ve dropped points.
“At the same time I do think he will be back this season. I was having a chat with him just over the weekend and he’s being patient about it and he knows at some point he’ll get his chance again.”
Pantilimon has been a solid presence in the City goals without overly impressing, and as such it will be interesting to see who will play against Fulham this weekend.
