Manchester City fans are confident they can slay Barcelona and are hopeful of drawing Manchester United in the latter rounds!
Manchester City were the first name out of the pot when the knockout stage of the Champions League was drawn in Nyon, Switzerland, earlier the day and they take on four-time winners Barcelona in one of the marquee match-ups when the competition resumes in 2014.
Rather than fear the Spain's Primera Division leaders, who have pocketed 43 points from an available 48 and have returned 44 goals in the process, it is City who should be the feared club in this match-up, as the clubs fanbase echo sentiments emanating from Camp Nou that indicate the Etihad Stadium was a venue that Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino was hoping to avoid.
He is quoted by AS to have said: 'They are scoring goals freely and I don't want to experience that first hand. They are an important rival and have very good players. You hope for the best during the draw and then you just have to deal with what comes out of it.'
While Sergio Aguero is currently injured, he should - if current estimations prove correct - have returned to full match fitness well before the first leg against Barcelona, and one fan is hopeful he can net a hat-trick versus the Catalans.
Others believe victory over Barcelona is a foregone conclusion and that local rivals Manchester United would be a dream quarter-final showdown!
This is how it'll go, we'll kick out Barcelona and then we get United in the next round and hammer them as well! #MCFC— Harry Plopper (@D4NNY_F0X) December 16, 2013
