The Arsenal defender had to be stretchered off in his side’s 6-3 loss to Manchester City on Saturday.
Not only did Arsenal suffer a defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Saturday, they received a double blow with Laurent Koscielny picking up an injury during the game.
The France international tried to block Alvaro Negredo’s goal in the first-half of the Gunners’ loss, unsuccessfully, and picked up a horrendous gash on his knee as a result.
Arsene Wenger has revealed that the centre-half will be out for an extended period of time, and Koscielny posted this graphic photo of his knee on Facebook in the aftermath of the game.
Arsenal will be without their influential defender for the critical festive fixture schedule, which includes games against Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham.
Thomas Vermaelen replaced Koscielny at the Etihad Stadium and will stand in while the Frenchman looks to get back to fitness.
