Last weekend, there was fair reason to change Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem’s name to Chelsea Mk II.
Chelsea’s on-loan contingent either scored or set up all of Vitesse’s goals in a 6-2 victory over PSV Eindhoven.
One player – Lucas Piazon – was at the heart of the action, scoring the first and setting up two more. And he has been at it again today: scoring a brace and setting up the third in the Eredivisie side’s 3-2 win at home to NAC Breda.
The result sees Piazon’s temporary club go two points clear at the top of the Dutch league, and reinforce the Brazilian’s reputation as yet another Blues striker doing the business away from Stamford Bridge.
In short, it is not only Romelu Lukaku staking a claim for a regular Blues’ shirt.
Piazon has now scored four braces this season, and has 10 goals to date.
Still only 19, he has plenty of time to stake a claim for a regular starting birth at Stamford Bridge. But if he continues in this vein of form, Jose Mourinho can surely only gift him to other clubs for so long…
