Football is a rollercoaster. Arsenal should know that better than most. Two seasons ago they went from losing 8-2 at Old Trafford against Manchester United to thrashing Tottenham 5-2 twice in a matter of months.
So you may think that watching Tottenham get beat 6-0 at Manchester City last month, where the home side were in red hot form at the Etihad, Arsenal players may turn the other cheek and not bow to temptation to mock.
Not Wojciech Szczesny, the Pole has no love for Arsenal's bitter rivals and used his Facebook page to mock Tottenham's thrashing.
"Wonderful scenes at The Etihad..." was his simple message.
Now the boot is on the other foot. Szczesny was perhaps too confident to consider that Arsenal still had to visit Manchester City, just weeks later.
That game took place today, and lo and behold, Wojciech Szczesny had to pick the ball out his net six times, and even conceded the penalty himself for the final goal.
Arsenal will take consolation that they got beat 6-3 rather than 6-0, but to a goalkeeper that is of little comfort.
There were countless Tottenham fans who savoured the turnaround. Suddenly their defensive horror show didn't look so bad.
Szczesny was the target for them on Twitter, and here is what they had to say:
So I am guess Szczęsny isn't sending messages out about today's score from the etihad #thfc— Stuart Dellar (@stu2809) December 14, 2013
For me the man of the match was szczesny the way he picked the ball out of the net was fantastic. 6-3. #COYS— Ogun Ahmet (@oggieen1) December 14, 2013
We agree Szczęsny
