Jack Wilshere has had something of a topsy-turvy season for Arsenal this campaign. One week the midfielder looks superb, the next he looks absolutely woeful.
Today was certainly one to place delicately in the latter column.
He struggled with the physicality of a midfield battle against Yaya Toure and Fernandinho and cut a frustrated figure for much of the game.
He stayed on the pitch for the 90 minutes - much to the shock of fans on Twitter who could not believe he was kept in considering his poor form.
Arsenal eventually lost the game 6-3 as both teams decided to forego defensive duties for the day in a nine-goal thriller at The Etihad.
And with City closing the gap on Arsenal to just three points with a romping disparity in goal difference it seems the pressure and the poor performance got to Jackie.
He was spotted on camera seemingly letting the Manchester City fans just what he thought of them with the universal hand signal that lets others know of your disapproval.

Well you know what they say, a picture tells a thousand words, so have a look for yourself…
With Laurent Koscielny already looking a doubt for the Chelsea game in ten days Wenger will not want Wilshere missing through an FA sanction - which could now certainly be a possibility.
Then again Wilshere did ‘momentarily hold a cigarette as a joke’ earlier in the season - maybe there is a perfectly plausible excuse for his latest misdemeanour.
