The French side were seemingly in the box-seat, with some reports earlier this year suggesting a deal had been all but agreed between the Spanish international and Claudio Ranieri’s side.
But Valdes’s future is still unknown, and with doubts remaining over Joe Hart’s long-term role at the Etihad, Manuel Pellegrini has been tipped to move for the Barca man who has already made it clear he will be leaving at the end of the season.
But it now appears a third side has been thrown into the mix, with Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reporting that PSG are monitoring Valdes’s situation closely and are keen to bring him to the French capital.
Should they get him ahead of Monaco, it would be a huge blow as the two sides fight it out to be not only the best in France but also – seemingly – the biggest (and best) spenders.
The latest report claims that Valdes is due to visit Paris later this month, and that PSG is appealing to him for a number of reasons, including the project currently taking place at the club, the financial element and the “cultural offerings of Paris”.
Whether or not the report is true will be revealed in due course, but City are going to have to pull out all the stops if they really do want to sign a ‘keeper who appears to be on the shopping list of some of Europe’s biggest spenders.
