Recently we highlighted the possibility of Max Gradel returning to Leeds United. The club have recently secured their long term financial stability and are poised to receive an investment boost in the winter.
Brian McDermott has already admitted an interest in bringing new players into the group in the Transfer Window.
That looked like a real possibility this week after his French club reportedly put him up for sale. Saint-Etienne were said to be looking at bringing in new players in January themselves - so they must now consider ways of cutting the wage bill before doing so.
Gradel has recently recovered from an injury which kept him out of action for a number of months, and has only played a handful of games for the club this season.
With a World Cup on the horizon and Gradel dreaming of being in attendance with The Ivory Coast he needs first-team football.
Well this week he got it.
Last night he got his first start of the season as Saint-Etienne took on Montpellier at the Stade de la Mosson - and he did not disappoint.
He scored after 75 minutes - just five minutes before leaving the field - to claim a 1-0 win for Les Verts…
After the game he went on to praise his current club president - which certainly hints that he has not been put up for sale despite the apparent German and English interest in his services.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Roland Romeyer, who is a great president and encouraged me in difficult times."
