Newcastle United starting XI: Krul, Debuchy, Coloccini, Williamson, Santon, Sissoko, Anita, Tiote, Gouffran, Shola Ameobi, Remy
Subs: Elliot, Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara, Sammy Ameobi, Ben Arfa, Cisse, Obertan
Southampton starting XI: Gazzaniga, Chambers, Lovren, Hooiveld, Shaw, Cork, S Davis, Ward-Prowse, Rodriguez, Lambert, Osvaldo
Subs: Cropper, Yoshida, Schneiderlin, Fonte, Ramirez, Lallana, Gallagher
Both sides are flying high after impressive starts to the season, and they go into this afternoon’s match having taken four points off the Manchester clubs last weekend.
Newcastle will feel confident of taking all three points at home, but Southampton will know that after a rocky patch, they need to get a win to go with their impressive draw last time out.
Newcastle are unbeaten against Southampton in their last 10 matches – a record that stretches back to 1997. And if recent history is anything to go by, the Magpies should make it 10 wins from their last 11 encounters.
The fact that the Saints have scored fewer away goals than any other side in the top half of the table also does not bode well. But the form of Dani Osvaldo suggests he could be the deciding factor if Alan Pardew’s men do not pay close attention to him.
What do you think the result will be this afternoon?
