As David Moyes has watched his Manchester United side struggle, speculation has grown over the midfield saviour who can come in and turn things around at Old Trafford.
United badly need something extra in the middle of their team after failing to secure a creative midfielder last summer.
Galatasaray star and former Inter and Real Madrid man Wesley Sneijder was, is and will be, seen as the man who could do that job of transforming the middle of United’s team.
He’s a player that the Premier League champions have been strongly linked with in the past, going back to the Sir Alex Ferguson era when a deal for the Dutchman nearly happened.
However, any United fans harbouring hopes of signing Sneijder should think again according to Jan Aage Fjortoft, who has suggested the freshest speculation is based on nothing more than an agent trying to earn some extra cash.
Just got the message there is no chance Man UTD will go for Sneijder. No chance. Just an agent wants to earn money, I presume— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) December 12, 2013
Fjortoft is one of the biggest TV sports personalities in his home country, working as an anchor for Norwegian league games, Champions League and Europa League as well as limited English TV coverage.
He’s well placed, with enough decent contacts, to stay updated frequently on the biggest transfer rumours across Europe.
United will add to their squad this January because they are clearly missing something in the current side.
There isn’t too much wrong with the spine of the team, it’s just one or two top quality additions which would make any current worries over failure to finish in the top four look a little bit silly.
One thing is for certain according to the Norwegian, it won’t be Sneijder who becomes the next Old Trafford hero.
