Moyes shouldn't buy - Schmeichel urges Manchester United to sell big-name flops

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel wants David Moyes to sell his underperforming stars.

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has urged David Moyes not to sign anyone new in January.

Instead, the former United goalkeeper thinks Moyes should sell several of his underperforming stars.

United find themselves in a lowly ninth-place in the Premier League after 15 games this season, following back-to-back defeats to Everton and Newcastle.

And Schmeichel thinks enough is enough - the big-name flops must go.

"What I think is really important to David Moyes is maybe not bringing players in but letting players go," he told talkSPORT.

"It is very important he stamps his authority on the squad and some of the players that are there are not performing well enough and it has been going on for a while.

"It would be much better for the club if he brings one or two of the younger players through and lets one or two go."

If Moyes were to follow the Great Dane's advice, there would be no shortage of candidates for the transfer list.

Ashley Young has endured a torrid run of form this season, receiving negative criticism both for his form and the continuing scandal surrounding his diving.

Anderson, meanwhile, has struggled to make an impact ever since he arrived at Old Trafford in 2007.

But could Moyes even go a step further and banish the underwhelming Tom Cleverley from his ranks in January?

The 24-year-old has failed to live up to his billing at United this year, while at the same time putting in poor performances for England.

Should Moyes sell some of his underperforming stars? And if so, who?
