Some of the key stories involving Tottenham Hotspur Football Club this Friday evening.
Rose returned from injury in last night’s 4-1 win over Anzhi in the Europa League and says he is a lot of respect for the manager.
He said: ‘I thought there club were going to [sign a left-back] in August and I went to see the manager and he told me it was not true and if the club were going to do that he would speak to me first. So I would be the first one to find out in January.
‘He treats me as one of the big players here and it is the first time I have had that at this club. There are a lot of games coming up and I just hope I can stay fit now.’
Villas-Boas has dismissed any idea that Erik Lamela will be allowed to leave the club on loan during the January window according to TalkSport, with Atletico Madrid reported to be interested in taking the 21-year-old to Spain for the remainder of the season.
AVB said after last night’s match: ‘There are no truth in those reports. It was a good performance against Anzhi, he played down the right and left flank. He is obviously trying to find his full confidence in his game – that will come with games.’
Midfielder Christian Eriksen has told the Tottenham website he is glad to be back from injury after returning last night’s game and is looking forward to the challenge of facing Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
He offered the simple solution to deal with Luis Suarez, saying: ‘Keep him from scoring!
‘No, seriously though, he’s done really well and of course that’s one thing we’re going to look at.
‘Liverpool is one of the most important games for us. If we want to continue pushing the top and being closer to the top we have to win, so we need to get a result.’
