6 chances created, 107 touches - €50m Manchester United target impresses

Rumoured Manchester United transfer target Ever Banega had a night to remember in the Europa League.

Just last month Manchester United were linked with signing one of Valencia's star men, Ever Banega.

The Star claim the Red Devils aim to bring in the playmaker next summer, with the Spanish club unlikely to budge until then.

Banega has a release clause of €50 million written into his contract with the La Liga club, who they add could sell for €24 million due to their own cash troubles, or even less as he is out of contract in June 2015.

Last night the 25-year-old Argentine showed just why United should pay him further attention, it was claimed they had already scouted him three times, and anybody watching him in Valencia's Europa League game against Kuban Krasnodar can't have failed to be impressed.

Banega was at the heart of everything good about Valencia in the 1-1 draw, with the Spaniards already qualified for the next phase of the Europa League, it was enough to earn top spot by virtue of Swansea losing.

He was ever-present, touching the ball 107 times. By contrast Kuban's two defensive midfielders had 104 touches combined.

It was only due to his side's poor finishing, with striker Helder Postiga now making it 101 days without a goal, that Banega's hard work was not rewarded more.

He created six goalscoring chances for his teammates, the same number as the entire Kuban team managed.

One of those was important, providing the all-important assist for substitute Paco Alacer to score.

The only blot on his copybook was his goal attempts, he had four, with only one on target and no goals. Banega did add an all round element to his game though; making three successful tackles and one interception.

Valencia have not enjoyed a great season, sitting ninth in La Liga, just like Manchester United in the Premier League.

Scouts may be interested to see if Banega can improve on his one goal and three assists in Spain so far this season, for further evidence to see if he can be the man to add a spark to United's game.
