Manchester City latest: Begiristain tipped to ask for Barca man; Milner’s war cry

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

All eyes will be on tomorrow’s draw for the last 16 of the Champions League, which means plenty of minds are on it this evening.

Having finished second in their group, Manchester City are gearing up to face one of Europe’s elite. But given that they beat the reigning champions last time out, perhaps that is not a bad thing.

In the absence of the real deal, Talk Sport has done a dummy run of tomorrow’s draw, in which the Blues drew Borussia Dortmund. What does this mean? Well, nothing at all. But I’m sure they had fun doing it.

Fresh from his outstanding display against Bayern Munich, James Milner has said he and his teammates fear no one as the draw approaches.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the England midfielder said, “We’ll take anyone in the next round. We’ll just concentrate on us.

It’ll be a tough team but, after this (beating Bayern), we’ll take confidence and know we can progress.”

And finally, in transfer news, the Express reports that Manuel Pellegrini is considering a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

The story originated from Spanish broadsheet El Confidencial, which claimed the Blues’ director of football Txiki Begiristain was hoping to use his contacts at the Nou Camp to push through a deal for a player heavily linked with a move to Monaco in recent weeks.
