Despite reports in the Express tonight linking him with a move to Chelsea, Radamel Falcao appears to be going nowhere.
He has been speaking with L'Equipe regarding his future and had this to say:
"I am very happy at Monaco.I have no problem with the coach, just my thigh. I will play soon. I feel better. There is much speculation around me. I have a five year contract, and I am very happy here.
"My wife is very happy to live here, I want to thank Claudio Ranieri, who keeps patience in these times, he waits.
"I'm better off without putting pressure on me and he keeps giving me his confidence.
"I also want to thank the club that has always behaved very well with me.
"People who are at my side know very well that I am very well in Monaco and that everything goes well with the club."
In our view Chelsea should listen to his comments, and drop any plans they had to move for him.
To be honest though these rumours have always flown against the facts:
Monaco's owners and vice-president have always insisted the Colombian is going absolutely nowhere, while Jose Mourinho has also recently dismissed rumours he intends to sign a striker in January.
In public Falcao presents himself as a family man, in the media he is portrayed as money-obsessed. We're willing to give him he benefit of the doubt on this one.
Falcao seems a little fed up with all the rumour, and it seems as though the likeable Claudio Ranieri is playing a key role in helping him feel at home.
Don't expect any further movement on this one in January, despite what the whispers may claim.
