Chelsea fans react on Twitter to Jon Obi Mikel's performance

Mikel And Meireles

Does Jon Obi Mikel cut it in midfield for Chelsea?

Jose Mourinho was the manager who brought Jon Obi Mikel to Chelsea, but sooner or later he could become the one to move him on.

Only if the 'Special One', does not like what he sees, and it's debatable whether he does so far.

Mikel has been in and out of the Chelsea side like a yo-yo, starting eight games and a substitute for seven.

He played for 74 minutes against Steaua last night in Chelsea's 1-0 Champions League win, but whether he will keep his place for the weekend game against Crystal Palace is another matter.

He helped Chelsea keep a clean sheet which was vital under the scrutiny of their manager in recent games, but were Chelsea as effective driving forward with him instead of Ramires? The answer there is probably no.

Here are some statistics from his performance last night...

- Mikel completed a superb 96 per cent of his passes, the highest of any player on the pitch.

- He did not make a single tackle, and made just one interception.

- Mikel had one shot which registered off target, and had one successful dribble. He did also make three effective clearances.

The stats only tell you so much however, far more interesting is the interpretation of the performance by Chelsea fans, and warning... it was not all positive.
