Two bookmakers have made Tottenham favourites to re-sign former player Dimitar Berbatov.
The Bulgarian has been linked with a move back to his former employers this week as Tottenham seek out support for Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe in attack.
Despite the big money Spurs spent last summer, the one area they still need to add to is up front and there are plenty of reasons why Berbatov would be a fantastic signing for Andre Villas-Boas.
Only Sky Bet and BetVictor are currently offering odds on Berbatov’s club after the January transfer window and they both make Tottenham the favourites to get their man.
Sky Bet prices Berbatov in at 7/2 to rejoin Spurs while BetVictor is a longer option at 8/1.
The interesting point to note is that those current prices on the market are solid, they are not moving and they are not drifting.
There is no clear sign to suggest that the odds have gone shorter or longer quickly, which suggests there is a consistent belief from punters betting in that market that Berbatov will be a Tottenham player at the end of January.
However, before Spurs fans get too excited, there is interest in other teams, who need a striker, also coming in for the experienced Bulgarian front man,
Arsenal are hot on the heels of Tottenham and although their odds to get him are longer (14/1 with sky Bet and 10/1 with BetVictor), the Gunners clearly need additional support for Olivier Giroud who is under a lot of pressure at the Emirates Stadium.
It will be fascinating to see how the saga pans out but all the cash is going on a Tottenham return.
