Tottenham latest: Innovative medical treatments, AVB looks to Anzhi

Some of the key stories related to Tottenham Hotspur this Wednesday evening.

Spurs will use a blood spinning technique in order to get central defender Jan Vertonghen back to full fitness as quickly as possible.

Vertonghen is suffering from an ankle injury and the club will use PRP [platelet-rich plasma] treatment to improve the Belgian’s recovery time.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas said: ‘We will have the player in a boot for one to two weeks to try to settle it.

‘We want to avoid surgery so we will use PRP treatment to try to get him back as soon as possible.

‘We’ve had outstanding results with PRP treatment and we will do that again now.’

Villas-Boas has said that both Christian Eriksen and Danny Rose are likely to make a return to the Spurs side for their Europa League against Anzhi Makhachkala tomorrow night at White Hart Lane.

Vlad Chriches, however, will miss the game but could be in line to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

AVB said: ‘We will look to try and give Danny Rose a couple of minutes in this game and Christian Eriksen is also selected, so there is the possibility that he could play some minutes as well.’

The Sporting Kansas City coach Peter Vermes has told Sky Sports News that he expects stirker Jermain Defoe to head to the MLS in the summer.

Vermes, who also commented on Chelsea’s Frank Lampard in the same interview, said: ‘I see both of them coming. I think it’s going to happen. They are world-class players with great qualities that I think will only help enhance the league.

‘Defoe, I think, is a done deal already but that’s just my opinion.’
