When there is a big game on the horizon, Arsene Wenger tends to turn to one man - Tomas Rosicky.
The experienced Czech Republic international has shaken off his outstanding injury problems to blossom into a player to depend on, and was crucial in helping Arsenal even secure Champions League football at the end of last season.
Tonight he played a key role in helping the Gunners progress to the knockout phases, despite the 2-0 loss.
It was another match towards the total he needs personally, he requires 25 first team games to trigger a new one-year contract extension as per the terms in his current deal. This was his 16th of the campaign so far.
His calmness helped the Gunners during his time on the pitch. Before his 75th minute substitution, he completed 87 per cent of his passes, more than any other Arsenal player.
He won two aerial duels and won two tackles - equal to any other starting Gunner over the first 75 minutes, as well as making one interception.
Here is a look at what Arsenal fans made of his performance...

I love what rosicky adds to the centre of our team. Thank god our players our so technically good, otherwise lack of width would matter.— Smile Gunners (@smilegunners) December 11, 2013
