Davy Klaassen was at the centre of Ajax's 4-0 victory over NAC Brada last weekend.
Attack-minded midfielder Davy Klaasen, a 20-year-old from the Hilversum region of Netherlands, has been likened to Dutch maestro Dennis Bergkamp in what is fast turning into a breakout season for the Ajax prodigy.
The young star had been used sparingly at best in season's past but in the current campaign Klaasen is excelling and has returned six goals from 492 minutes of Eredivisie action, an average of one goal every 82 mins, with three of those coming against NAC Brada in front of the interested eyes of Arsenal scouts.
Very much schooled into the Ajax way of thinking, Klaasen - 6ft 1in - has been a member of de Godenzonen since he was 11-years-old and has attracted the commendation of coach Frank de Boer, who is quoted by the Daily Mail to have said: ‘Davy is an attacking midfielder who can play centre forward. He’s definitely very talented. Moreover, he’s a smart guy.'
Klaasen has now been responsible for a hat-trick of superb performances, including one against Barcelona, so he has now received media backing for a full international call-up in the build-up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
See below for the performance that will have no doubt impressed the Gunners representatives in attendance…
