I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 10th December 2013, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 10th December 2012…
The Chronicles of Nani-a
Nani was being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal a year ago today. The Manchester United winger was entering the final year of his contract with the club and had recently been involved in a training ground bust-up with young team-mate Davide Petrucci.
He was reportedly said to believe his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson was beyond repair and the Gunners were said to be readying a swoop.
Of course Ferguson left the club this summer and a few days later under David Moyes and co Nani signed a hushed new five year deal.
Take him to the Greek … actually don’t
Apparently Liverpool were after Celtic striker-come-winger Giorgos Samaras. The former Manchester City flop had enjoyed a good start to the season in Scotland - and in particular in the Champions League.
Brendan Rodgers was short on striking options and Samaras was said to be the subject of a £5 million enquiry.
But Neil Lennon said of the rumours:
“I’m not sure if anyone will want to leave just now, the way things are going.”
Samaras remains at Celtic - and Liverpool fans are likely pleased about that.
I’ll tell Atsu where to stick your contract
Ghanaian prodigy Christian Atsu rejected a new deal with FC Porto. The flying winger was at the time being heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur rejected the deal - as he felt it was time to move on from Portugal, giving Spurs hope of snapping up their man.
Of course he did end up coming to London this summer. He joined Chelsea, and is currently on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.
