Some of the key stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.
Defoe has been linked heavily with a move to MLS side Toronto but reports indicate that Andre Villas-Boas doesn’t want to leave himself short up front.
The report does imply that the Spurs boss wants to keep hold of Defoe and is more inclined to offload Emmanuel Adebayor given his large wages and that he has only made one appearance so far this season.
Jan Vertonghen is set for a spell on the sidelines for Spurs meaning that he is likely to miss the busy Christmas schedule. Vertonghen has been playing at left-back for much of the season but has recently picked up an ankle injury which forced him to miss Saturday’s 2-1 against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
However, left-back Danny Rose could make a long-awaited return from a toe injury in Spurs’ final Europa League match against Anzhi Makhachkala at White Hart Lane on Thursday which will ease the manager’s concerns.
Spurs face competition for Inter Milan defender Alvaro Pereira according to TalkSport. Pereira has only made two starts in Serie A this season, and Estudiantes along with Spartak Moscow are said to be interested in the Tottenham target.
Two Premier League fixtures have been rearranged so they can be televised in February. The home game against Everton will now take place on Sunday 9th February kicking off at 1:30pm whilst the trip to face Norwich at Carrow Road will be played on Sunday 23rd February at 4pm with both matches to be broadcast on Sky Sports.
The home game with Cardiff – which is due to take place on Saturday 1st March – is to be rearranged in due course following Tottenham’s progression to the last 32 of the Europa League.
