Did he really just say that?
Considering how fierce a rivalry he once had during his playing days with Manchester United against Arsenal, one would be forgiven for assuming that Gary Neville - an organiser of many a Red Devil defence during his professional years - would be loathe to the idea of cheering on an Arsene Wenger side.
However, while the noted Sky Sports analyst points to the devastating form that Manchester City have shown during parts of the season - particularly against his former club United when City defeated their neighbours by a strong 4-1 scoreline in October - he still would like to see Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud, Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey et al lift aloft the Premier League title come the season's end.
'It pains me to say this as I'm from the red part of the city, but if you said to me at the moment… what I've seen when they get their act together, Manchester City will take some beating,' said Neville when discussing favourites in this year's title race during the Monday Night Football show headlined by Swansea City's hosting of Hull City.
'I think Arsenal, if United were not to win it, I'd like to see them win it,' he added.
'City for me are the strongest, that performance against United, I can't get that out of my head. It was a fantastic performance.'
