Wales star went back to basics after horrifying injury and poor form
Ramsey has hit 13 goals for the Gunners this season and played an integral part in helping Arsene Wenger’s side to establish a five-point lead at the top of the table.
It is almost four years since the Wales international suffered a broken leg thanks to a horrendous tackle from Stoke City’s Ryan Shawcross, an injury which at the time was feared could have brought Ramsey’s fledgling career to an abrupt end.
There were also those who doubted Ramsey’s ability to play at the top level, after he initially struggled to hold down a place in the side. However, Ramsey is now emerging as one of the best players in the country, and finally feels he is proving the doubters wrong.
“I had a few conversations with the boss and with my family and just went back to playing the way that I knew I could - getting stuck in again,” Ramsey is quoted as saying by Wales Online. “I had to overcome the mental side of what I was going through.
“It was really difficult for me, but you just have to keep trying to believe in yourself and your ability, and that you will show everybody what you are capable of in the end.
“It will all just click into place and then well you sort of just forget how it was before.
“Hopefully now I have changed a lot of people’s opinion again.”
