If Demba Ba, Samuel Eto'o or Fernando Torres had the prolific touch of Manchester City's superstar striker Sergio Aguero, of Liverpool's attacker Luis Suarez or even Arsenal's centre forward Olivier Giroud, then Chelsea would not be third in the Premier League table, trailing Arsene Wenger's side by five points, they would be top, looking down on their rivals.
That is the opinion of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho who has enviously looked at the goal gluts enjoyed by the division's top scorers but is insistent that his forwards are not inefficient as the reality is the Blue trio 'give everything'.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Mourinho is reported to have said: 'If you tell me Aguero has scored already 10 or 12 goals, Giroud eight or 10, Suarez 10 or 12… if you ask me would I like my strikers to score eight-10-12 goals - yes [is the answer.'
He continued: 'If we had eight-10-12 goals [from Torres et al] we would be top of the league. That’s a reality but my strikers give everything and the team works hard. What can you do more? We work, we keep working. That’s the only way I know is to keep working.'
In Premier League competition alone, Torres, Ba and Eto'o have returned a combined four goals from 25 appearances.
