Yohan Cabaye grabbed the headlines on Saturday afternoon as his goal secured a 1-0 win for Newcastle United over Manchester United. This has propelled him into more transfer speculation including being linked to Manchester United themselves.
BeIN Sport questioned Cabaye about his future and the speculation regarding a move to Paris Saint-Germain in January to which Cabaye responded: "I know that in January the rumours will start all over again. I'd like to know who does not want to play for Paris Saint-Germain today?" Whilst it is a comment that cant be argued with given PSG's current situation, it isn't something Newcastle fans would like to hear.
Cabaye was of course the subject of a £10m bid in August from Arsenal which seemed to turn his head, and he wasn't in the right mind to play the next game for the club. He has since put that behind him though, and gone on to put in some more impressive performances for The Magpies. PSG have been linked with a move for the former Lille player, and Cabaye has said recently that he wants to be playing in the Champions League.
Laurent Blanc's side are almost guaranteed Champions League football next season, and can be considered as one of the leading contenders for this season's competition. French newspaper Le Parisien reported on Monday that PSG have made no contact with Cabaye or Newcastle, but are Cabaye's words hinting that he would welcome an approach in January?
A move to PSG would bring him into the spotlight in his homeland and could improve his chances with regards to the 2014 World Cup. An approach from the French champions could well spark off moves by plenty of others as Cabaye would have many clubs fending for his signature. Manchester United and Arsenal would certainly be interested.
