Former Blue Khalid Boulahrouz may be in hot water with the Danish FA.
After a club-less period that spanned the summer and part of the start of the current season, former Chelsea defender Khalid Boulahrouz, 31, was allegedly seen spitting at Johan Absalonsen when Khalid's new team, Brondby, took on SonderjyskE at the weekend.
A charge from the Danish FA may be forthcoming, however, Brondby - and Boulahrouz himself - have been swift to issue an official statement.
'I can guarantee that I did not spit at the SønderjyskE player,' said Boulahrouz. 'It is true that I spat, but not for him. I saw him come running and so I spat behind him to not hit him.'
He added: 'I spit maybe 100 times during a match, but never after the opponent. I care a lot about being a good role model for my teammates and for young people so I would never intentionally spit after an opponent.'
Fans of Boulahrouz, dubbed Cannibal, saw the lighter side of it after the player posted a link to his statement on his official Twitter account.
