While Arsenal were taking on Everton in an enthralling Premier League clash at The Emirates the FA Cup Third Round draw was getting under way at Wembley.
And there was little doubt just what the stand out tie of the round was - Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates.
The Gunners are having an incredible season so far but would likely have preferred a much easier tie to start things off than a crunch tie with their local rivals.
The key for Arsene Wenger and co this season is to come away with some form of silverware - and considering they have already been sent crashing out of the Capital One Cup by Chelsea they now only have three more shots at ending their trophy drought - the Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup.
Arsenal would have begging for a tie against Macclesfield or Kidderminster - giving them a chance to rest players and still, theoretically, have a team strong enough to defeat their lower league opponents.
Instead Wenger will have to put out a strong team to beat Andre Villas-Boas’s men - and it was something that did not have him exactly jumping for joy.
Wenger used to have a reputation as something of a stiff - but he has loosened up in recent years, often cracking jokes and demonstrating a dry wit the British should be proud of.
Things are tough fir Arsenal this week - with the game against Everton followed by Napoli and Manchester City in the next seven days.
So Wenger, quite sarcastically welcomed the news that another tough game was now on their schedule:
“Tottenham I've heard. There are not enough tough games, they gave us another one.”
The tie will be played between the 3rd and the 6th of January - either side of games against Cardiff City and Aston Villa.
