Arsenal were held to a draw by an impressive Everton side at the Emirates, but still extended their Premier League lead to five points.
Mesut Ozil scored Arsenal's goal, sweeping home from close range after Olivier Giroud had miss-hit his effort.
It was not the smoothest passage of play from Giroud, but his presence and failure to connect distracted two Everton defenders and created space for Ozil to score unmarked.
Giroud nearly won it for the Gunners, hitting the woodwork from 20 yards out in injury time.
His efforts were clearly unappreciated by supporter Piers Morgan who was at the Emirates to watch the game. He tweeted:
The striker worked tirelessly all game, as he has done all season for the Gunners - and we have to ask if Morgan would really have rather Nicklas Bendtner led the line?
Giroud completed 67 per cent of his passes, and created two goalscoring opportunities. He also won three aerial duels, more than any of his teammates - and the same number as Romelu Lukaku.
In fact the Frenchman touched the ball just 11 times less than Mesut Ozil during the game.
However just one of his four efforts on goal landed on target, so perhaps Morgan has a point after all - but Giroud is the best they have, and running him down in such a manner ahead of a crucial run of fixtures shouldn't be necessary.
