I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 8th December 2013, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 8th December 2012…
Don't you De Gea
Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
The big Bosnian was enjoying a terrific season with The Potters and an £8 million bid was reportedly being readied for the player to take over from David De Gea at the club.
The Spaniard was still being scrutinised for his displays at the time - but he went on to have an excellent second half of the season making countless saves and clearly improving on the aspects of his game that had to be adapted to play Premier League football.
The idea of him being replaced now is simply unthinkable.
Ben ... Carlos ... Carlos?
Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly lining up a £7.5 million deal for a Uruguayan winger.
The player in question was River Plate’s Carlos Sanchez. The 28-year-old was reportedly impressing the clubs scouts and AVB was said to be keen on bringing in another winger to help supplement his strikers.
The interest was always tentative and a little bizarre - and this summer he did make a move … to Mexican outfit Puebla.
A long way from White Hart Lane.
There was something in the air that night...
Chelsea won their first game under the management of Rafa Benitez - and it was an old favourite of the Spanish boss who did the job at Sunderland.
It was the Fernando Torres show at the Stadium of Light as he scored in the 11th and 45th minute with Juan Mata adding the third in a 3-1 win.
This was just one of many false dawns in the career of Torres at Chelsea - so far he has yet to become a serious and consistent performer for The Blues.
