Manchester United are on a losing streak, will this be character building or damaging to him in the long run?
One point from a possible nine since the international break is no recipe for success, a rare situation for Manchester United to find themselves in.
A bright spot against Newcastle came in the form of teenager Adnan Januzaj, the player who rescued them from defeat against Sunderland earlier in the season.
Januzaj played well, arguably United's best player, but you wonder just how long until he gets dragged down into the malaise his fellow players find themselves in.
Is his selection in the team at the moment going to ultimately do him more harm than good?
We are not saying don't pick him just because United are losing, in fact at present he gives them a greater chance of winning; but manager David Moyes is going to have to monitor the youngster carefully.
Experiencing this poor period for the club could be character building for the teenager, but it could also end up sapping his confidence and self-belief.
If that happened, it would be a great shame - and the responsibility is not only on Moyes, but more senior players in the United squad to step up and help the club regain their form.
Leaving it to a teenager to drag them out of the hole they repeatedly find themselves in is not good enough for a club of United's size.
If they get back to winning ways then there will be no question of Januzaj enjoying his football, the way it should be for a youngster.
Maybe David Moyes should just be relieved the youngster has signed his new contract already.
