A select round-up of transfer news relating to Tottenham Hotspur…
Any hopes Tottenham may have had of making an improved offer for Inter Milan’s Fredy Guarin in January could be dashed, following the news that Barcelona are interested in the player.
The Express reports that despite possessing some of the best midfield talent in the world, the Spanish champions are keen to strengthen that area and see Guarin as the ideal signing.
Andre Villas-Boas reportedly had a £17million bid turned down for the player last summer, with Inter president Massimo Moratti claiming Spurs were “really interested” in the Colombian.
And whether the latest news will prompt Spurs to give up or pursue him with renewed vigour remains to be seen; if, that is, they still feel they need him at all.
The player is currently on loan with Steve McClaren’s side until the middle of next month, but the former England boss wants him for longer.
“We are going to negotiate over the next week or two with Tottenham to try and do something,” McClaren said.
