Citi Building Sign

Citigroup has hired Nomura’s Brent Donnelly to trade currencies in New York, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

Bloomberg News reports that Donnelly, 41, formerly global head of Group of 10 currency spot trading for Nomura, will be a foreign-exchange and local-markets spot trader at Citigroup, said the person, asking not to be named because the move isn’t public.

Donnelly will join the New York-based firm in March and be based at its Greenwich Street offices, said another person familiar with the hire.

In the meantime, Bloomberg also reports that Jason Griffith, global head of trading at Sanford C. Bernstein has resigned from the New York-based brokerage after less than a year on the job.

Griffith stepped down to pursue other opportunities, said Jonathan Freedman, a Bernstein spokesman, declining to elaborate.
