The Moroccan winger joined The Reds in 2012 in a £2.5 move from Dutch side Heerenveen, where Assaidi had established himself as one of the most dangerous wingers in the Eredivisie, but found games hard to come by at Anfield. Assaidi made just 12 appearances under Brendan Rodgers last year, and was sent out on loan to Stoke City for the entirety of the 2013/14 season.
Assaidi is by no means a regular under Mark Hughes at the Britannia Stadium, but he proven himself to be an effective option off the bench with pace and trickery. This proved to be the case once again, as 25-year-old Assaidi replaced Jonathan Walters in the 84th minute, and made his presence felt in his limited time on the pitch.
The GIF below shows how Assaidi picked the ball up down the left, cut inside Branislav Ivanovic and unleashed an unstoppable right footed drive into the top corner of the goal.
