CONFIRMED: Manchester United & Newcastle line-ups - RVP starts, Ben Arfa on bench

Old Trafford 2

Here is how Manchester United and Newcastle United will line-up for this afternoon’s match:

Manchester United starting XI: De Gea, Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Nani, Jones, Cleverley, Januzaj, Hernandez, van Persie

Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Anderson, Valencia, Zaha, Young, Welbeck

Newcastle United starting XI: Krul, Debuchy, Santon, Williamson, Coloccini, Tiote, Cabaye, Sissoko, Anita, Gouffran, Remy

Subs: Elliot, Yanga-Mbiwa, Gutierrez, Obertan, Ben Arfa, Cisse, Sh Ameobi

Manchester United will be keen to put their loss to Everton behind them, and have the perfect chance to do just that as they kick-off the weekend’s top flight proceedings at Old Trafford.

Anything less than a victory is inconceivable for David Moyes and his team, who will know the sides above them will only drop so many points in the matches that remain. But Newcastle United will have ambitions of their own – to continue a run that has seen them climb to seventh in the table.

The Magpies have won just one of their last 23 matches against United, but as Everton proved on Wednesday, history does not always repeat itself.

What do you think the result will be this afternoon?
