Arsenal continue to be linked with Alvaro Morata this week. The Real Madrid striker, who was the top-scorer at this summer’s European Under-21 Championship, has been linked with a loan deal to The Gunners all week - with it even reported a deal was done.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti and Morata himself have since denied such a possibility - but that has not stopped the rumours continuing.
If Real Madrid snap up Luis Suarez, a player Arsenal themselves bid £50,000,001 for earlier in the year, then Wenger believes it is possible that The Gunners will get their man.
Arsenal are looking for striking back-up to Olivier Giroud as Nicklas Bendtner is currently the only man for the job.
It has been revealed that Arsenal made a move for Gareth Barry. The midfielder is currently on loan at Arsenal’s weekend opponents Everton from Manchester City but revealed that he very nearly ended up playing at The Emirates this season - as Arsene Wenger hunted a holding midfielder.
In the end Arsenal signed Mathieu Flamini instead:
"There was a bit of contact with Arsenal and they were interested, but I think they went down the road with Flamini.”
Finally and it seems this is a story that is here to stay - as Arsenal again find themselves linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan.
The German international has been injured for the majority of this season - but was a key fixture in the Dortmund side that had such a fantastic 2012-13.
Dortmund are reportedly concerned that they will not convince Gundogan to remain at the club - however they have also recently revealed that nobody will leave the club in January.
Any deal would have to therefore happen in the summer - although Manchester United will be ready to compete.
