Arsenal star Podolski thanks fans for support on Twitter as he nears injury comeback

Lukas Podolski is near to a return from his nasty hamstring injury and he wanted to thank the fans for their support during the rehab period.

Arsenal’s excellent start to the season can be appreciated even more when you consider the fact they have been without a vast amount of the clubs top players for big chunks of the season because of injury.

Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby have all been out for long periods - as has German international Lukas Podolski.

Podolski had a great first season at the club, not just on the pitch but off of it.

He has settled in really well to London life and the Arsenal fans have really taken to his fun and cheeky demeanour.

He picked up a hamstring tear in August which has taken him four months to recover from - as its severity proved to be far worse than first anticipated.

He was pencilled in to play against Everton tomorrow back in November - but that seems unlikely. However he might just make the bench for the game with Manchester City in a weeks’ time.

The fans will be very pleased to hear the news, as Podolski is always one of the more celebrated of the players in terms of his availability to the Gunners fans.

And today he has thanked those fans on his favourite platform, Twitter - for all the support and encouragement they have given him in his recuperation period.

Here are the Tweets …
