Match to be played on Saturday 7th December 2013 at 15:00. Venue: Anfield, Liverpool.
Liverpool will look to build on the midweek victory over Norwich City with another win against the struggling Hammers. Given the comfortable nature of Liverpool's win in midweek, wholesale changes aren't to be expected but there may be one or two as the Reds look to consolidate their position in the top four this weekend.
Here is the side that Brendan Rodgers may send out to try and beat beat West Ham.
GK - Simon Mignolet
Liverpool’s keeper will have been disappointed not to have picked up a clean sheet against Norwich. Despite that he continues to impress, even if he didn’t have all that much work to do on Wednesday night, but he will certainly want a clean sheet from this game.
RB - Glen Johnson
Johnson had a more solid display against Norwich than he had on his previous two outings though he will be disappointed the cross for the Canaries goal on Wednesday came from his side. Against a side that has relatively decent wide men, Johnson may be tested.
CB - Martin Skrtel
Skrtel has been in decent form and hasn’t done a lot wrong at the back for Liverpool, it would be a surprise if he was to lose his place.
CB - Daniel Agger
Agger may have his hands full coming up against Carlton Cole. Whilst some would prefer Mamadou Sakho up against the big West Ham front man, Agger is likely to keep his place in the side. Expect him to be tested a great deal in the air.
LB - Jon Flanagan
Flanagan seems to have impressed Brendan Rodgers in the left-back role ever since his performance in the Merseyside derby. He has been solid so far in that role even if Liverpool have lost a bit of attacking threat in that side of the field, but it looks like one thing the youngster is working off.
RM - Jordan Henderson
It doesn’t seem possible for Jordan Henderson to be dropped from the Liverpool side this season as he continues to impress in whichever position Brendan Rodgers plays him in. Though you’d expect him to start this game on the right hand side again.
DM - Lucas
Lucas was rested in midweek and Joe Allen put in a pretty good performance in the Brazilian’s absence. However, expect Lucas to reclaim his place in the side this weekend.
CM - Steven Gerrard
If Lucas is back in the side expect Gerrard to push further up the field a lot more compared to Wednesday night when he started the game in a relatively deep role.
CAM - Philippe Coutinho
He showed a lot of skill and class which demonstrated how much of an asset he is to the Liverpool team in midweek. If he is 100% fit he is a certain starter for Brendan Rodgers, and often viewed as the key to unlock a stubborn opposition defence.
LM - Raheem Sterling
Having played against both Hull and Norwich some might expect Sterling to be given a rest this weekend but Brendan Rodgers may want him to feed off the confidence he will have got with his well taken strike against Norwich in midweek.
ST - Luis Suarez
The first name on the team sheet. What else can you write about Luis Suarez? A wonderful player who has been in wonderful form this season and is leading the scoring charts. Of course he is going to start.
