No favour from Hyypia as £8.8m Liverpool target heads for Schalke

The transfer hasn’t been confirmed yet but Sidney Sam will get an three-year deal and will start in Gelsenkirchen after the World Cup, according to Bild.

Leverkusen's Sidney Sam is heading for Schalke, according to German tabloid Bild,

The Bundesliga team from Gelsenkirchen, Germany faced Chelsea twice in their Champions League group and is keen to reinforce their attack.

Sam started the season with four assists and 11 goals but has been out injured after impressing in the friendly with England.

With his quick pace and relentless drive to the goal he not only impressed German national coach Jogi Low, who rewarded him with five appearances in international fixtures, but also Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers' team was linked with a move for the Leverkusen young gun.

The transfer hasn’t been confirmed yet but it appears former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia will not be doing his old club a favour, with the deal tipped to go through after the World Cup.
