Manchester United boss David Moyes has revealed that Shinji Kagawa could miss Manchester United’s lunchtime clash with Newcastle United.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Moyes said: ‘Shinji has had a sickness and has been unwell. I will see how he is tomorrow, we hope to have him available, but he wasn’t too good after the game [against Everton].’
Reacting to the defeat to Everton at Old Trafford in midweek, Moyes gave an uneasy and short answer about their support amid reports in the press, and said it was ‘just football’ that a week after winning so comprehensively in Europe against Bayer Leverkusen that they found themselves on the wrong end of a scoreline at Old Trafford.
‘I said after the game that Everton supporters gave their team a great support and great backing.
‘There were chances in the game that we didn't take and the result could have quite easily have been different.’
The Manchester United boss has hinted he would like to strengthen in the January transfer window. Moyes had a disappointing first window as Manchester United boss after missing out on several high profile targets, and only landing Marouanne Fellaini for £27m from Everton.
He said: ‘If we can do that we’ll try to make it happen.’
On tomorrow’s opponents, Moyes said his side will try and make it as hard as possible and has admitted that it could be a bad time to face Newcastle after their recent good form prior to their midweek loss to Swansea.
‘Four straight wins is a great record to get.
‘It could be a bad time to face Newcastle, but they also had a defeat to Swansea. They are coming to Old Trafford and we will make it as hard and as difficult for them as possible.’
