Two key transfer stories this morning as Express move Chelsea's pursuit of goal-poacher Radamel Falcao on by claiming that AS Monaco want Demba Ba or Fernando Torres in return and Jose Mourinho is ready to raid Internazionale for a towering 25-year-old centre back; a potential replacement defender for David Luiz, perhaps, say The Mirror.
The highly-anticipated talks between Roman Abramovich and Monaco owner Dmitri Rybolovlev are yet to take place, but Express claim the meeting is 'set'.
There were a number of lucrative transfers that occurred during the summer market and, even though Falcao has spent less than a half season on the yacht-strewn French Riviera, Rybolovlev believes his nine goal return in 14 Ligue 1 matches coupled with the Colombian's heightened fame and the alleged interest Real Madrid has in him, ensures his valuation is now anywhere between £80m to £150m.
French media outlet Le10Sport, however, claim Chelsea could reduce that cost by including one of either Ba or Torres in the deal. The former is valued by transfermarkt.co.uk at £13m while the latter could have a price-tag of £20m.
Chelsea, who already spent £60m in the summer, will look to keep the fee as low as possible as the player's wages will likely be high and Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on acquiring Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia, a player who has completed 20 tackles and 23 interceptions - a stark improvement on any member of the current Stamford Bridge backline.
