Arsenal legend believes Liverpool 'would let Suarez leave with blessing'

Luis Suarez Penalty Claim

Former Arsenal man believes Luis Suarez' departure is only a matter of time.

Luis Suarez revealed today he was happier than ever at Liverpool, and it certainly shows on the pitch.

He revealed to Spanish newspaper Marca: "Yes, I´m happy here and will stay until the end of the season."

Ah, so not exactly a long-term commitment.

What could be agreed at the end of the season? Probably there is no agreement, but Suarez made quite clear last summer he wanted to play Champions League football. A top four finish would therefore save Liverpool a huge headache.

If they do not make it, Liverpool have a decision to make. Another summer of digging their heels in and asking Suarez to give it another year, or stand aside and get the highest fee possible?

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown is certain it would be the latter:

In his weekly Twitter Q&A he stated:

"I can’t help but think that if he’d gone to Arsenal over the summer the league would have been sewn up by Christmas. Last night his grin was as big as I’ve ever seen it. He’s enjoying what he’s achieving. He’s selfish but the best strikers are. If he carries on doing what he’s doing, he might have to move to find success but I think he’d leave with Liverpool’s blessing."

If a world record bid did come in for Suarez, then of course the Anfield hierarchy would consider it if they miss out on the top four next summer.

However we suspect they still would not sell to Arsenal under any circumstances, and would only let him go abroad, if at all.
