VIDEO: Arsenal, Spurs target Rode scores terrible own goal

Eintracht Frankfurt

At 0:50 Frankfurt’s Sebastian Rode recorded an own goal. Should Spurs or Arsenal second-guess their scouting report?

In Wednesday night's DFB-cup game Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Sebastian Rode made a huge mistake, that could have cost his team the game.

In the second half of Bundesliga's Eintracht Frankfurt vs. SV Sandhausen match  the midfielder had the ball in front of his own goal. Three players of Sandhausen tried to put pressure on Rode and succeeded. Frankfurt’s midfielder saw only one option: pass the ball awkwardly to his keeper instead of passing it to the middle of the field or to the left side to the open man.

Rode promptly put it in the net. No chance for his goalkeeper. Oops.

Not a good scene for his resume heading into contract talks with Eintracht Frankfurt or a new team, also linked with Bayern Munich.

Rode battled through and made up for it. In another game it would have cost his team the win. In this case his Frankfurt team beat Sandhausen 4-2.
