According to Juventus captain and Italian international goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon Paul Pogba is about to sign a new contract with Juventus by saying that the former Manchester United player will follow midfielder Arturo Vidal, who recently extend his contract with the reigning champion.
Buffon told Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport: “Pogba? You will see soon that he will also renew [his contract]. If a player who has as many offers like Arturo decides to tie himself to Juventus for such a long time, it’s a very clear signal and it means that there is an important and solid project here.”
“There is a conviction among the most important players in the squad that in the future we can achieve the same great results as in recent years.”
If Buffon is right, Pogba will crush a lot of hopes. According to the French daily Le Parisien, Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc asked club owner for new players in the next transfer period. Top priority for Blanc was former Red Devil Paul Pogba. But apparently not anymore.
A transfer would have been a real possibility as Laurent Blanc has some ties to the 20-year-old young gun, who was also linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea. Blanc might have seen Pogba in his time as French national coach.
In his last six games Pogba recorded two goals, two assists and was awarded with the man of the match twice.
Pogba also received wide recognition as he won the Golden Boy award as the best player under-21 in Europe beating Romelu Lukaku and Julian Draxler.
What is your take on Buffon’s comments?
