Manchester United transfer news: Bad news in Koke chase, three may leave & Matic latest

A select round-up of transfer news relating to Manchester United

After suffering yet another set-back in the league last night, the spotlight on Manchester United’s current squad grows ever brighter.

The Mirror claims United boss David Moyes will dispatch with Ashley Young and Anderson in January – either permanently or on loan – after seeing both players fail to live up to their swiftly diminishing hype.

The report also states that if Moyes is finally successful in bringing Leighton Baines from former club Everton, Alex Buttner will also be on his way out of Old Trafford.

The same paper reports that Benfica are facing something of a battle to keep hold of reported United target Nemanja Matic.

With a price of £20million continuing to do the rounds, this one just doesn’t ring true, considering the player's reported release-clause. Either the Portuguese giants want to sell him on the cheap or they don’t. That doesn’t sound like a battle to keep his services to me.

And finally, Spanish newspaper AS reports that United target Koke is happy at current club Atletico Madrid, and has no desire to leave mid-season.

Koke’s agent Inaki Espizua told the paper, “At 21 Koke feels he has yet to face many challenges with Atletico.

Koke appreciates the interest shown by some, but feels very valued by the club.”

So it appears that – at least for now – this is yet another player United will be unable to sign.
